Historic Farm Journal Field Days Connects Thousands Across U.S.

Farmers and ranchers from all 50 states made agricultural history by participating in Farm Journal Field Days, the first-of-its-kind hybrid live and virtual event. The journey with the New American Farm Show Experience started last week with the virtual Pro Farmer Crop Tour, and the live portion of the event ended with the #FarmOn Benefit Concert headlined by Grammy-nominated and ACM Award-winning country artist Lee Brice. To date, more than 50,000 have raised their hand to participate in the interactive experience.

The networking area featured lively discussion all three days, with attendees sharing tips and tricks they’d learned, asking questions of other farmers and sharing what they were looking forward to each day.

Each day concluded with engaging virtual Beer Garden sessions, attended by 70+ people each night, that were opportunities to talk to farmers and producers across the country and even across the globe, as was the case on Wednesday when a rancher from New Zealand joined the discussion.

Wednesday’s Beer Garden featured special guests Mitchell Hora and Zack Johnson, hosts of the Field Work podcast, while Thursday’s featured This Farm Wife Meredith Bernard, and Mixologist Shana Race of TalkTales the Podcast. (Get the drink recipes here.)

Social media also featured prominently in the experience using the #FJFieldDays and #FarmON hashtags to join the discussion.

From the main stage headliners including U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue spoke to thousands of farmers.

Robust content pavilions and expo hall gave attendees a chance to engage with exciting and educational information from sponsors and chat with company representatives in their booths.

The live event concluded Thursday, Aug. 27, with the #FarmON™ Benefit Concert headlined by country music artist Lee Brice, who joined a slate of top country performers, including Justin Moore, Martina McBride and Rodney Atkins, in a free virtual concert. Concert proceeds will benefit National 4-H Council’s FOURWARD Fund. The #FarmON movement is fueled by the engagement of farmers and ranchers across the nation supporting agriculture and each other.
