Cash Cattle Slowly Higher

All cattle feeding areas were able to take advantage of the packer’s need for cattle last week.  The south traded cattle at $100-$101 per cwt., $1 higher.  The north was able to keep the same trend going with live cattle bringing $102 and dressed cattle up to $162.

Cattle movement was good in all areas. Feeders who had not moved cattle, and were long on showlists, should have gotten some needed breathing room for a while.

The window of opportunity for the feeder to take advantage of the lower committed numbers may not last long.  Regardless of how long it lasts, feeders need to take advantage of this opportunity and put as many back on the market as possible.
